Welcome to 2012

The new year always means a couple things for me. Lots of regret for the 10K calorie days the weeks before and resolutions. Can’t do much about those fatty days weeks back, but I can try to move forward on some resolutions. I do have some this year and I thought it might help me to put them out there.

  • Run 60 miles a month – Really this is just on here to make me exercise. I can’t say that I like running, I just don’t think it is that hard to do anymore and it is an quick way to knock out some cardio. I really like the app RunKeeper to track my running.
  • Drop 15 lbs – I have gained back about 15 lbs from my lowest point. I really hate that. I am trying to start the calorie counting again using The Daily Plate. That is what helped me so much the first time. I don’t want it to take a year I want to have those 15 lbs dropped by March. I feel that is totally doable if I stick to the exercise and stick to the calorie plan.
  • Read a book a month – I say this every year.
  • Start a side business – I say this every year.
  • Blog more – I say this every year.
  • Read through the Bible
  • Take more trips – I want to make more time to get out of town. Jennie and I plan to try a long trip this summer where I can work from our location while she is out for summer break. That was one of the main reasons I wanted a work from home job, so that I had the freedom to work from anywhere. I want to put it into practice this summer and see how it works out.
  • Play more video games, watch more football and UK basketball games – Just putting this on here so I have something to point out to Jennie if she says I am doing to much of any of those. Sorry honey, it was a new years resolution…why do you want me to fail?
  • Play more volleyball and basketball. Last year we played lots of volleyball and basketball. This year we have the potential to play 2 nights of vball a week but the basketball has kind of fizzled out. I need to get back on that. I do want video of me slamming a basketball two handed during a game just to show my kids I was able to do it at one time. That brings up something else I should put down as a resolution.
  • Dunk two handed – I can dunk one handed occasionally, if the time of day is right and the moon is such that it pulls me closer to the basket. Not consistently. This is something else I think I could easily do with just a few months of work. I turn 32 this year, I don’t think I have much jumping left in me soon.

If I do two of these things I will be happy and if I could do all of them that would be pretty good too.

Maybe I will blog tomorrow about weight loss stuff or books I want to read. Maybe I won’t post again till 2013. I never did that last day of NYC post.

Maybe I should just say until we speak again and leave you with a picture of Jennie and I in a giant rocking chair.

Knock, Knock

We haven’t posted much lately, so I hate that this is the first thing I’m writing about in a while.  Do not read this if you have a weak stomach.

If a stranger came to your house and asked to use your bathroom, would you let them in?  Ok, what if this stranger told you she knows the neighbor two doors down but they didn’t answer the door?   What if she said she had MS and couldn’t control her bowels?  Would you let her in?  What if she told you she had already “gone” in her pants?  What would you do?

Well, if your name was Chad Webb last night, you would direct her to the restroom.  I don’t blame him.  It is a tough situation.  She sounded like she was really in need.  I was on the couch in the other room listening, offering no help.

She went in to the bathroom and we waited in the living room, thinking just how strange it was.  She was in there for a while, and when she came out, she let us know that she had cleaned up as best should could, but we would have to clean up a little more.  She also informed us that the trash would need to be taken out because she had put her underwear in it.  She was very appreciative and wanted to send us a thank-you card.  We told her that it was not necessary.  We really just didn’t want to talk because it was so awkward.

Chad informed me that because he was the one who opened the door and talked to her, I was the one who had to clean up after her.  Ummm, let’s just say he got the better end of the deal there.  It was disgusting in the restroom, with poo on the toilet and dirty, wet toilet paper on the floor.  I’ve Clorox-wiped all over and washed the towels that were in there, but I still haven’t gone there since then.  I hope I can eventually feel like it is my home bathroom again someday.

I don’t know why this is worth writing about.  Why is it so weird that someone who really needed it would ask for help?  And why have Chad and I been suspicious of the whole event since it happened?  Like, one thing I thought of was that she goes around the neighborhood asking to come into people’s houses, claiming to know a neighbor.  I mean, maybe she didn’t really know that lady two doors down.  Before she left, she asked us our last name.  My thought was, what if next time, she goes to someone down the street and says, “I know the Webbs.”  I hope that it’s not true, and I hope we really did help her out, but it is just kind of sad that we automatically speculate something strange is going on.

Top Ten Reasons I Think my Husband is the Cutest

#10 He times how long we cook our meat at The Melting Pot to ensure it has been exactly 2 minutes.

#9 He tucks me in with a kiss EVERY night and answers when I call for my “tucker.”

#8 To appease me, he wears his snowman pajama pants at Christmas time.

#7 He takes his Harry Potter book with him everywhere “just in case” there is a chance he can read it.

#6 When he knows how my sentence is going to end, he mouths along with my words without realizing it.

#5 He throws a little hissy fit when he has to go back to work after lunch.

#4 He gave me this t-square to help with Uppercase Living.

#3 He says, “Look, my socks match my outfit.”

#2 He actually believed that it was me under the covers and told the pillows, “wakey, wakey.”

#1 Just look at that face.

I love you, cutie!

100 Posts

I like to celebrate milestones in our life and in our marriage, so why not on our website as well?  I noticed when I finished my last post that we have now written and published 100 posts (this one makes 101).

On average, we have written a post every 5.6 days.  January is the month of most writing with an average of 10 posts per month.  July might come in second place, but we have only been through 1 full July since having the site.

It is so nice to look back at the things we have done and what we were thinking. We hope to keep them coming by the hundreds.  Thanks for reading!  Enjoy all 100 of them!

We’re back!

We made it home from Hawaii safely.  We had a wonderful time and hope to share our pictures and experiences with you soon! While in Honolulu, Chad was told, once again, that he looks like Ben Affleck.  How many times do you have to be told you look like someone before you quit your job and become an official celebrity impersonator?

More about the trip to come…

Fan of Glee

So, it’s official… Glee is my new favorite show!  The premiere was tonight, and although I had seen most of the scenes in the previews, I still thoroughly enjoyed it.  It’s pretty funny, and I just love a show that I can sing along with.

Just wanted to also mention that I am also a fan of Kris Allen (American Idol finalist).  I don’t think either he or Adam did a super stand-out performance, but I’ve been growing more and more fond of Kris throughout the season.  He is very talented, and I don’t think I would enjoy any album that Adam put out.  So, as I was waiting for Glee to begin I repeatedly texted my vote for Kris Allen.  I looked later and counted 14 votes in all.  I hope it helps!

Speaking of being a fan… I enjoyed tonight’s TV viewing under the gentle breeze of our lovely new ceiling fan.  My wonderful hubby put it up for us.  It was a lot of work for him, seeing as he is not an electrician, and I’m not a lot of help.  We’ve never really loved the fan that was in the living room when we moved in, and after living here for a year, we finally decided to replace it.  We updated it with a darker and perhaps more modern fan.  I like it a lot.  I think it looks fantastic, so thank you very much, handy hubby!  We were going to move the old fan into the office, but that probably won’t happen now.  Does anybody need a fan?
